On August 5, 2025, the TESDA Regional Training Center Central Luzon – Guiguinto under the leadership of Center Chief Rheo Henry M. Rodriguez, formally launched a Leather Bag Making Training Program for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Meycauayan.
This initiative is a partnership between TESDA RTCCL-Guiguinto and BJMP Meycauayan, represented by JSINSP Ma. Cristina R. Buscay, Acting City Jail Warden. The program aims to equip PDLs with valuable technical skills that can help them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. The Training Orientation Program was held on August 4, 2025, attended by Mr. Jeffrey M. Guevarra, Training Instruction Supervisor; Ms. Andrea C. Vergara, Registrar, who facilitated the profiling of participants and Ms. Jesusa N. Luena, designated trainer.
The training program will run until August 21, 2025, engages 25 PDLs from both the male and female dormitories of BJMP Meycauayan. Most of the participants are individuals involved in drug-related cases, particularly drug-dependent surrenderees. Through this program, TESDA RTCCL-Guiguinto continues its commitment to inclusive skills development and community-based training by providing opportunities for learning, livelihood, and hope for a better future.
